Short version
Alley Oop is free to use. We don't sell your data. We collect anonymous usage analytics (Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization) to understand which calculators are most useful and where the product needs improvement. If you sign in, your account is currently stored locally in your browser only — there's no central account database to leak.
What we collect
Anonymous analytics events: which pages you visit, which carriers you compare, what country you estimate for. We attach an anonymous session ID that resets when you clear your browser. We do not collect names, addresses, payment info, or any identifiable personal data unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., emailing us).
Cookies and similar technologies
We use Google Analytics 4 cookies (anonymized IP enabled) to measure aggregate site usage. We use browser localStorage to remember your locale preference and to store sandbox account data on your own device. Disabling cookies will not break the calculator.
Third parties
We do not share data with third parties for advertising. We use the following service providers strictly to run the product: Google Analytics (analytics), OpenAI (to extract product info when you paste a URL or cart text). Carrier affiliate links route through partner programs, which receive standard click attribution data from those clicks.
Your choices
You can: (1) use any browser ad-blocker or Do Not Track to opt out of analytics, (2) clear localStorage to wipe all sandbox session data, (3) email us to request deletion of anything you've voluntarily sent us.
Children
Alley Oop is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the product evolves. Significant changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top.
